Grade-Breaking Guest #1: John Gamba

The very first episode of Breaking the Grade is live, with more shows coming soon. Guest one was our very own co-host, John Gamba. Bringing John into focus as guest #1 was an awesome opportunity to share his strong entrepreneurial and education-based background with our listeners.

About Epsode 1 and John Gamba:

John’s background started with a degree from the University of Pennsylvania and several EdTech startups — one of which was PACE, the first school-to-home communications network that allowed principals and administrators to send personalized voice messages to parents at a moment’s notice. This company found such great success that it was sold to Blackboard, and John was able to help start a foundation with his family that’s focused on closing the achievement gap for inner-city schools.

Today, John serves as Entrepreneur-in-Residence and Director of Innovative Programs at UPenn’s Catalyst @ Penn GSE The entrepreneurial center has a collective mission to advance innovation and equity in worldwide education through meet-ups, boot camps, and competitions for EdTech startups.

Moving Forward with Breaking the Grade

With John Gamba’s experience and current work in social entrepreneurship and education, he has so much to offer our guests and listeners. John will be sharing insights and highlighting the most important topics with our guests, ensuring that our podcast is filled with helpful information for current and future grade breakers alike.

Our first episode is available on Apple, Spotify, and Youtube. To follow along for upcoming shows, feel free to subscribe to our pages on any of these sites. You can expect to hear from an equity-focused former educator, a psychologist with an effective SEL curriculum, and an education activist, lawyer, and former DC council member in the coming weeks.
